A Weekend at Onkaparinga Views

17th July 2019

9am –
Agatha’s Food Store at Port Noarlunga for brunch

Start the weekend off right with a big brunch from Agatha’s Food Store, only ten minutes away from Onkaparinga Views. There are a variety of menu items to choose from, but our all-time favourite is The Smash and a Mad Monkey Frappe (think banana, coffee and chocolate – yum!).

Agatha’s Food Store….. so delicious!

10.30am –
A walk down Port Noarlunga jetty to soak up some sun

After filling up on brunch, it will be time to walk it off and what better way to do it than a jetty walk! Port Noarlunga jetty is known for its picturesque views and gorgeous reef, where you can snorkel, dive and swim around the multitude of fish and sea life. You can have a chat to the local fisherman and see what the catch of the day is, or simply admire one of the most beautiful spots the south of Adelaide has to offer. After your jetty walk, you can relax on the beach or continue walking down to the Port Noarlunga river mouth, where you will find kayakers floating down the river and into the ocean to catch some waves (and yes, you can hire a kayak too!).

Port Noarlunga jetty and reef – how great is the view!

2pm –
Take the kids to the Jubilee playground

The Jubilee Playground at Port Noarlunga has been around since 2002 and is still one of the most popular playgrounds in Adelaide’s South. You won’t miss the turn off to Jubilee, with a life-sized giraffe named Geronimo at the entrance greeting you as you drive in. The kids will be entertained for hours with a multi-level wooden forte, climbing net, wheelchair friendly carousel, rock climbing wall and grassed areas to kick the footy around.

6pm –
Grab some dinner down the Port Noarlunga main street

If you haven’t had enough to fill your appetite already, we recommend sticking around in Port Noarlunga to try one of the variety of cuisines offered on the main street. Kegs and Barrel is one of the latest additions, offering a meaty menu and 16 brew taps, pouring local and interstate hand-crafted beverages. If you’re feeling like something a little more exotic, Tequila ‘N’ Tacos is just a short walk down the street, or you can indulge in authentic Thai food at Ampika’s kitchen on Port Noarlunga’s beach front.

9am –
A morning hike at Onkaparinga Hills National Park

If a Sunday morning hike is your scene, Onkaparinga Hills National Park is only around the corner from Onkaparinga Views and hosts a number of scenic walking trails. You can walk along cliff tops with magnificent views, or down along the river stream where you find rockpools with plenty of life. For the more adventurous types, you can also go kayaking, mountain bike riding or even rock climbing - your options are endless in this stunning and nature-filled National Park.
PS. As it’s a National Park, don’t forget to leave your dogs at home!

Onkaparinga Hills National Park at its finest!

1pm –
Taking a trip to wine and dine in McLaren Vale

Less than 15 minutes from Onkaparinga Views, McLaren Vale is a star on the map for being one of the best wine regions in all of Australia. With over 70 cellar doors based in McLaren Value, you certainly won’t run of out things to do or wines to taste! Our recommendations are to grab an authentic Italian pizza at Pizzateca (oh – and their homemade limoncello is to die for!), taste a few wines at the D’Arenberg Cube after you’ve walked through their showcase of eccentric art, and finishing your afternoon off with a beer flight and a few lawn games at the recently opened Swell Brewery.

McLaren Vale…. where the grapes grow and the wine is created for you to enjoy!

6pm –
Watching the sunset at Moana Beach

On the way home to Onkaparinga Views, you can take a quick detour to Moana Beach and watch the breathtaking sunset with all it’s glory. If you’re up for it, you can even drive your car on the beach to avoid any sandy feet, or even take the dog down the leash-free end and let them have a play in the ocean waves. Moana is a good spot for surf, so you can expect to see a few people in the water (no matter what the weather is!) and their admirers perked up on the sand with a few blankets and a picnic rug.

Located south of Adelaide, your new address at Onkaparinga Views is conveniently placed between the hills and the sea. There are a range of allotments designed to suit every style of home and budget, and with benched and retained land, you’ll be moving in no time at all.
